The challenge
Infrastructure is committed long before anyone calls it an IT decision.
Comms room locations, containment routes, riser capacity and circuit lead times are all fixed by decisions made during design, usually without the people who will run the network in the room. Connectivity in particular has lead times measured in months, not weeks, and no amount of good project management recovers a circuit ordered too late.
The result is familiar: a building that is finished but not usable, Wi-Fi that cannot support the way the space is actually occupied, and a comms room in the wrong place with no cooling. Defining the infrastructure requirement early makes these constructable decisions rather than emergencies.
