The challenge
The appointment route shapes what the client gets.
Clients often ask what Sysflex costs before asking what role Sysflex is filling. The two are inseparable. A short design review, a client-side advisory appointment through to handover and a single-package integration appointment are three different commitments, with different levels of responsibility and different relationships to the contractor.
Being explicit about the models avoids the common failure where everyone assumes somebody else holds the technology outcome, and it lets the client buy the amount of involvement the project actually warrants.
What Sysflex does
Four routes, one set of principles.
Define
A defined review or brief: a fixed piece of work producing a requirement, a design review or a tender document.
Coordinate
Client-side advisor: a continuing appointment through design, procurement and delivery, acting in the client’s interest.
Assure
Delivery and assurance: oversight of installation, testing and handover, with or without earlier involvement.

What the client gains

Digital infrastructure and managed IT
Can be appointed directly for infrastructure and managed IT, inside or outside a group engagement.
Audiovisual and workplace technology
Can be appointed directly for AV and workplace technology where no wider coordination is needed.
Physical security systems
Can be appointed directly for security systems, or brought in as part of a coordinated package.
